Kaplan Leadership Initiative

Kaplan Leadership Initiative

1.11.2023

In November 2023, I completed my fellowship at the Kaplan Leadership Initiative, powered by Yesod Europe.

The Kaplan Fellows @Yesod Europe fellowship programme is a year-long opportunity tailored for middle-management (Jewish) community professionals, aiming to amplify their potential impact within their communities. This initiative is an integral part of the global Kaplan Leadership Initiative, a program dedicated to nurturing leadership worldwide.

Throughout the year, fellows participate in three European regional seminars and a globally held seminar, where they collaborate with peers from Latin America and the Former Soviet Union. These gatherings serve as platforms to elevate leadership, management skills, applied Jewish learning, and community development practices.

In 2019, I represented the Jewish community of Belgium as part of a European delegation in the “EJC-ADL First Responders Programme.”

This programme provided training on antisemitism, delivered by the Anti-Defamation League at their New York offices, followed by a session in Washington D.C., where we had the opportunity to exchange ideas with colleagues from across the United States.

We also participated in the ADL National Leadership Summit: “Fighting Hate For Good,” engaging in discussions with members of the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate.

I hold a Master’s degree in International Relations, with a specialisation in security, war, and peace studies, following a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. I studied at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and the Université de Montréal (UdeM), where I completed a minor in U.S. politics and political history. My Master’s thesis examined the behavior of the Russian Federation, the People’s Republic of China, and the United States within the United Nations Security Council. Using a realist theoretical framework, it focused on Russian and Chinese vetoes regarding the Syrian conflict, as well as U.S. positions on the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.

Prior to my academic studies, I spent ten months in Israel, where I studied Hebrew, which I speak fluently.
